Valerie Jeanne Camber Borgal grew up in Wilmington, MA, and enjoyed art throughout her childhood and was an art major in high school with the desire to teach. She is a graduate of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts School of Art and Design, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. After graduating in 1967, she married Thomas Borgal, had two boys and in 1973 settled in Tewksbury, MA. She joined the Tewksbury Art Guild in 1977. The guild offered a workshop in watercolor which inspired Valerie to start painting again. She attended classes and workshops in Kennebunkport, Maine with the late Bette Wasserboehr, classes with Louise Anderson, and workshops with Paul George in Gloucester and at Pemaquid Point and Monhegan Island off the coast of Maine.
Since 1992 she has participated in the Andover Art in the Park exhibit. She is a member and past President of the Andovers Artists Guild, a member of the Tewksbury Community of Artists, and Whistler House Museum of Art - Lowell Art Association, Inc., the Woburn Guild of Artists and the Arts Institute Group of the Merrimack Valley.
Between 1982 and 1996, While on staff at Fellowship Christian Academy, she taught high school, Jr. high and elementary art classes.
She teaches drawing classes and watercolor classes to adults and private classes.
As she travels her subjects include still life, landscape, seascape,floral, portraits (people, animals and houses).
Although she works primarily in watercolor, she enjoys working in other media: pen and ink, and pencil.
