The Rockport Art Association is a private, charitable, non-profit cultural organization dedicated to the advancement and preservation of the fine arts of painting, sculpture and the graphic arts through exhibitions, lectures, demonstrations, educational programs for young children and adults for the benefit of the community and the general public.
For the past 80 years, the Rockport Art Association has served as the cultural center of the Town of Rockport. Its members have provided most of the art which hangs in all of the public buildings throughout the town. Our building is made available for community events sponsored by groups such as Chamber of Commerce, AARP, the Girl Scouts, local theatre performances, and Amateur Art Festivals, or to individuals who may need a space to do smaller offerings such as poetry readings. Each year the Rockport Chamber Music festival is held in our galleries. During the course of the year, we host approximately 50 exhibitions by contemporary artists and works from our own Museum Collection – all open to the general public at no charge.
The Rockport Art Association offers continuing art classes and workshops for both children and adults, and sketch groups where artists can get together to paint or sketch without instruction. We offer art history classes, lectures, and demonstrations on all phases of the visual arts by professional artists, lecturers and teachers. All of these educational programs are open to the general public.
