Edward is a member of the Brothers of St. Francis Xavier (more commonly known as the Xaverian Brothers), a Roman Catholic congregation who sponsor numerous boys' secondary schools throughout the Eastern U.S.. Brother Ed spent twenty years teaching in several of these schools before embarking on his art career.

Ed has worked as a professional artist for over twenty-five years. Ed began his career as a printmaker, specializing in silkscreen printing and etching. For the past fifteen years, Ed has devoted most of his time to watercolor paintings. Ed favors landscapes that capture the changing palette and light of the New England seasons, but is equally drawn to still life, floral and architectural compositions. He paints in a traditional representational style with an emphasis on energetic design, vibrant color and strong value contrasts. Ed says of his work:"I keep striving for a fluid, spontaneous and transparent application of the medium. It's always a challenge to refrain from overworking a painting, but a more spontaneous application is what makes watercolor truly unique and alive".

Ed's work is currently represented at the Saltbox Gallery in Topsfield, MA and at the Hourglass Art and Gift Gallery in Melrose, MA. He is an active member of the Reading and Danvers Art Associations in Massachusetts, and has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibits throughout New England.
